3-30-20 Killeen Public Libraries Start Story Time Delivery

Killeen Public Libraries have closed in the effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, but our always resourceful librarians can’t be stopped from bringing story time to little learners. Tune in at Facebook.com/CityofKilleen Wednesday at 10 a.m. for the first online installment.

The premier episode will feature Miss Amy and friends at Copper Mountain Branch Library with two stories, a sing along, activities and even a craft to do at home. Story time programming is aimed at children ages 2 to 7, but it is appropriate and enjoyable for all ages.

“Regular weekly story times are a treat for kids and a help to parents and can bring a little normalcy during these times that are anything but normal,” said Director of Library Services Deanna Frazee. “They develop literacy skills and foster creativity in young children, and we don’t want to miss the opportunity to provide this learning, even if from a distance.”

Though both libraries are closed, they have a tremendous amount of material available online. Library members can access the online items including e-books, e-audios, reference materials, genealogy websites, food resources and more. Temporary memberships are available at Portal.KilleenTexas.gov.

More information about Killeen Public Libraries is available at KilleenTexas.gov/Libraries.
