5-28-21: $5.8 Million in Road Repairs to begin June 1

Repairs to Killeen streets damaged by the February winter storm will begin June 1 and continue over the next three months.

City crews have been making spot repairs since the storm to keep roads passable while more involved repairs could be planned and prioritized.

The first roads scheduled for repair are Gateway Drive, Levy Lane, WS Young Drive, Trimmier Road and Elms Road. Each street segment will be completed before the contractor moves to the next site. More roads will be announced as work progresses.

The work being performed in this program is milling to remove the damaged layers of street and asphalt overlay to replace the driving surface. A bid was awarded to Lone Star Paving to complete the work.

Residents and businesses located on affected streets will be notified directly as work dates near. Public notification will also be provided.

Funding for road repairs totaling $5,896,323 comes from the street maintenance fund and a supplemental allocation made by City Council for emergency street repairs.

Traffic will be detoured during work hours. Motorists should anticipate delays and are asked to use caution and obey traffic control devices.

The City of Killeen apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of this work and appreciates your cooperation as we repair these roadways.
