Chaparral Road Remains Closed Following Multi-Vehicle Pileup During Winter Storm
KILLEEN, Texas (Jan. 26, 2026) – The City of Killeen has closed Chaparral Road following a six-vehicle pileup that occurred late Sunday night amid hazardous icy road conditions.
The pileup occurred as freezing temperatures created slick and dangerous roadways across the area. Multiple drivers attempting to travel on the icy roadway lost control, resulting in a chain-reaction pileup involving six vehicles. Several vehicles remain in a ravine, and tow trucks have been unable to safely remove them due to ongoing icy conditions.
Chaparral Road is closed from Rosewood to Farm-to-Market Road 2410. The roadway will remain closed until conditions improve and crews can safely clear the scene. All occupants were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
Residents are reminded to avoid travel during the winter storm, particularly overnight and early morning hours when roads are most likely to refreeze. Even experienced drivers can loose control on icy roadways.
Weather updates will continue as new information becomes available.
