Killeen Firefighters put out fire at abandoned apartment complex

No victims found in units

KILLEEN, Texas (March 17, 2025) – Killeen Firefighters put out a structure fire on the 1200 block of East Avenue E Monday morning after a call was reported at 6:25 a.m. 

The initial call was for a report of a grass fire in the general area of 10th Street and Avenue E. The first units arrived on scene within four minutes and found two units of an abandoned seven-unit apartments complex in the 1200 block of East Avenue E on fire.

The call was upgraded to a structure fire and four engines, two tower ladders, one heavy rescue, two ambulances, two battalion chiefs, and two EMS captains responded to the scene. 

Crews found no victims inside the structures and had the fire under control within 60 minutes of arrival. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
