System designed to reduce congestion by simplifying arrivals and departures; rates unchanged.
KILLEEN, Texas (Jan. 30, 2026) – Travelers at Killeen Regional Airport (GRK) will soon experience a smoother, more convenient parking process as the airport launches a new premium parking system designed to reduce congestion and simplify arrivals and departures.
Beginning Feb. 1, the airport will transition to a free-flow parking system powered by Premium Parking’s digital GLIDEPARCS® platform. The system removes traditional entry and exit gates, allowing drivers to enter and exit parking areas without stopping for tickets or waiting at gates. Parking rates will not change as part of the transition.
The system uses license plate recognition technology through GLIDE Eye LPR® fixed cameras and handheld devices to securely manage parking activity. Drivers will park as usual, with their parking session automatically recorded electronically.
“This upgrade is about improving the overall travel experience for our passengers,” said Jarrod Provost, assistant director of aviation for Killeen Regional Airport. “From the moment travelers arrive, we want the process to be smooth, intuitive, and welcoming. This new system helps us deliver on that goal.”
As part of the transition, the airport will eliminate its $10-per-day lost ticket fee. The system also improves accessibility for disabled veterans who receive complimentary parking in the Long-Term Parking Lot or Short-Term ADA spaces. Eligible vehicles will no longer be required to present vehicle registration or photo identification upon exit, as the system automatically recognizes qualifying license plates, including those of Purple Heart recipients.
Premium Parking officials said the technology is designed to enhance convenience while maintaining reliability and customer support.
“Free-flow parking removes traditional barriers like gates and tickets and replaces them with a faster, more intuitive experience,” said Ben Montgomery, president of Premium Parking. “Our focus is on education and customer support to ensure travelers feel confident using the system from day one.”
The free-flow parking system is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce backups during peak travel times and create a more streamlined parking environment. All existing parking staff will remain on site to assist travelers during and after the transition. Additional information, including step-by-step instructions on how the system works, is available at flygrk.com.
