KILLEEN, Texas (Jan. 30, 2026) – The City of Killeen will open one warming center tonight to provide residents a safe, warm place as overnight and into the weekend temperatures are expected to remain cold.
The warming center will open tonight, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. and remain open until 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2. Based on improved weather conditions and decreased demand, only one location will be in operation. The warming center location will be Friends in Crisis, 412 E. Sprott St.
City policy requires warming centers to open when temperatures or wind chill values are forecast to reach 32 degrees or lower. The warming center is open to all community members in need, including individuals without heat or those experiencing power outages.
Residents wishing to donate supplies may contact the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management at em-coordinator@killeentexas.gov.
