Planning team will visit eight locations to meet with stakeholders and gather input.
The public is invited to engage in the comprehensive planning process at neighborhood walkshops June 28 through 30. Residents and stakeholders can share their ideas and concerns for their neighborhoods with the planning team at the following sessions:
Monday, June 28
Downtown Killeen 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Avenue D at Gray Street
Turtle Bend 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. Fishpond Lane at Pondview Drive
Marlboro Heights 5 – 7 p.m. Rev. RA Abercrombie Drive at Highland Avenue
Tuesday, June 29
Yowell Ranch 8 – 10 a.m. Greyfriar Drave at Shimla Drive
Jasper Heights 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Donnie Avenue at Mockingbird Lane
Alamocitos 5 – 7 p.m. Alamocitos Creek Drive at Bunny Trail
Wednesday, June 30
North Killeen 8 – 10 a.m. Whitlow Drive at Williamson Drive
Thunder Creek 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thunder Creek Drive at Waterfall Drive
The walkshops create an opportunity for residents to give direct and specific feedback about issues in their neighborhoods and to show the planning team these issues firsthand. Participants will lead the walk, and planners will solicit feedback to learn what residents like and dislike and what changes could improve their quality of life.
Participants should wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather and bring a bottle of water.
The eight locations were selected based on input received through the plan website and from stakeholders. All residents are welcome at all locations, but the focus of discussion will be on the specific area of the meeting.
Those unable to participate at the scheduled locations and times may submit their input at any time through various online feedback outlets including a survey, an idea wall, an interactive map and seven topical forums. Input is also accepted via phone and email.
The feedback received through all outlets will be used to establish priorities for the investment of public resources to ultimately meet community-wide goals. When complete, the comprehensive plan will establish a guide for meaningful progress to close resource gaps and to cultivate an equitable, vibrant and resilient local economy and neighborhoods.
An educational series is also available to help better understand how communities develop, why resource gaps exist, how current decisions affect future outcomes and how a comprehensive plan can cultivate fiscal health and local wealth. Three of nine modules are available to watch on demand now.
