KILLEEN, Texas (Feb. 16, 2022) – The City of Killeen’s Department of Public Works’ Transportation Division will be closing Illinois Avenue from WS Young Drive to the Central Texas Expressway (I-14) on Thursday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 18 from 7a.m. to 7 p.m.
Crews will be completing asphalt overlay and milling services, which will result in various lane closures throughout the day. Entire road closures may occur during this project. Roads will be open to local/residing residents only during this period. All work is weather permitting. Temperatures need to remain over 50 degrees and dry in order to perform milling and asphalt overlay services.
There will be a series of traffic control devices in place to guide motor vehicles around the work zone and closure. Motorists are asked to use caution, obey the traffic control devices and consider an alternate route during this street maintenance.
It is very important that all vehicles obey the traffic control devices for the safety of the citizens and employees. Again, all schedules are based on weather and may be changed.
