KILLEEN, Texas (March 18, 2022) - The City of Killeen Department of Aviation will host a Disadvantaged Enterprise Certification (DBE) workshop and open meeting Thursday, March 24 from 1 to 4 p.m.
This program can assist small, minority and women-owned businesses in removing barriers that pose significant obstacles seeking federally-assisted surface transportation work and help get businesses DBE certified, examining why companies should become DBE certified. It will also explain the advantages and disadvantages of certification.
The event will be led by Kelvin L. Solco, President of the Solco Group, a professional services consulting firm that provides planning and engineering support with emphasis on US Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration research, data collection and strategic advice for airport owners, consulting firms, and other public and private organizations. Mr. Solco retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after over 36 years of service. The Solco Group, LLC is a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, Small Business Enterprise, and Texas Historically Underutilized Business firm.
The workshop will be divided into three sessions: DBE Public Consultation Meeting Update, DBE Certification 101, and DBE Application Recommendations, followed by a question and answer session.
Interested business owners and leaders should email RAguan@killeentexas.gov by March 23 to attend.
