City working to improve north Killeen infrastructure.
The northbound lane of 10th Street from Hallmark Avenue to Veterans Memorial Boulevard will be closed to through traffic Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The road will be open outside of work hours.
This closure is for water main rehabilitation which requires open cut excavation of the road to access and replace the water lines.
The project segment is part of a larger north side rehabilitation project that will improve water infrastructure along Veterans Memorial Boulevard from College Street to 38th Street. The 2012 Water and Wastewater Master Plan called for the $1.2 million investment, which was funded through the 2013 Water and Sewer Bond.
When complete, 11,535 feet of aged water infrastructure will be rehabilitated increasing the water quality and available fire flow and reducing the number of water main breaks and service interruptions. Completion is anticipated by summer.
Traffic will be detoured around the work area, and motorists are asked to use caution and obey signage.
The City of Killeen apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of this work, and we appreciate your cooperation as we improve this infrastructure.
