[ARCHIVED] 12-15-20 Special Holiday Trash Collections

Thursday and Friday collections to run a day early.

City of Killeen trash collections will run on an amended schedule December 21 through January 1 due to the Christmas and New Year holidays. Monday and Tuesday collections will remain the same, but Thursday collections will be on Wednesday, and Friday collections will be on Thursday.

The City is offering free excess waste collection to help residents clean up after the holidays. Excess trash will be picked up curbside on the first collection day after Christmas according to the following schedule:

Regular day            Holiday schedule collections                        Excess collection day
Monday               Monday, December 21 and 28                   Monday, December 28
Tuesday               Tuesday, December 22 and 29                   Tuesday, December 29
Thursday             Wednesday, December 23 and 30             Wednesday, December 30
Friday                   Thursday, December 24 and 31                  Thursday, December 31

Excess trash may be placed in plastic bags no larger than 33 gallons or boxes no larger than eight cubic feet. All items must be at curbside by 7 a.m. on the special collection day and must be at least four feet away from the roll-out container.

This collection does not include bulky items like furniture, tires, construction waste or appliances. A fee will be assessed for those items.

Killeen Transfer Station will be closed December 24 and 25 and January 1. Residents may dispose of up to 300 pounds of excess trash at the facility free one time per month.

Killeen Recycle Center will be closed December 24 and 25 and January 1 but a recycle trailer will be available at the location. Additional Killeen recycle trailers will also be open at 6520 Clear Creek Road and 3201 S. WS Young Drive.
